eHow Secrets
I have noticed something strange in the eHow forums. I’m all for friendship and a sense of family… I think that aspect of the forum is wonderful. The strange thing is, how open some of the writers are with their golden secrets. When I posted my earnings the other day, I purposely included a screenshot of my PayPal account rather than my eHow earnings page. This is because I didn’t want anyone to see how much each of my articles earned. Some writers, though, readily answer questions like, “What is your highest earning article?” They respond with the title of their articles. Some even write their own forum posts, saying, “Wow, can you believe I’ve earned $45 so far with my article about ____?!” , which makes me wonder if they’re too trusting, or if they don’t realize that they’ve potentially given away some of their traffic and earnings. Anyone reading those posts could easily take those titles and improve on them. I guess the too-trusting divulgers don’t realize that.
I think it’s wonderful when writers share the wealth. They’ve got nothing to lose by sharing their high-earning titles. It’s not like their articles are going to start earning less. If writers take other people’s ideas and improve on them, good for them, I say!

Hm. You might be right, Eve. But –knowing a bit about SEO and writing online– I’ve found that saturating the ‘net (especially at one site) with articles with identical articles could potentially push your article’s SER down a bit… or at least water down its uniqueness and power.
