Recently, eHow has been dedicating a lot of energy to reviewing articles on the site, and getting rid of articles and writers that don’t meet the standards of eHow.    I’m all for it!  There were a few squabbles in the forums about the necessity and/or fairness about this, but I think it’s necessary.   When eHow decided to allow anyone in the world to create an account and write articles without any sort of screening or editing process, they left themselves open to a lot of unskilled writers, spammers, and… well, just plain strange articles.  (I once stumbled across an artilce at eHow entitled, “How to Bake a Pie in a Shoe.”

eHow apparently has been gathering lists of unacceptable articles and writers, and removed a lot of them in one fell swoop.   Hopefully, this will help maintain the integrity and professionalism on the site.   Doing this will increase other writers’ legitimacy as writers.   We should all want to be proud to say, “I write for eHow,” without people thinking, “Oh, she writes for that site that has those weird articles by really bad writers.”

Hopefully, this is something that eHow will keep in place: a team of editors reading and reviewing the articles that writers submit.  I like knowing that someone is keeping a watch, making sure that the site I write for keeps a good, strong reputation.
