eHow
eHow is one of the first content sites that I started writing for. I was “shocked and awed” when I found out how simple it is to make real money at eHow. In fact, I think my eHow earnings are well above average, and they just keep climbing and climbing. I even wrote an eHow ebook about the techniques that I use to rev up my earnings on eHow.
What is eHow?
eHow is a website owned by Demand Media. The site contains thousands of articles, all written and submitted by content-producing members (in other words, members write all of the articles on the site). All of the articles, in keeping with the site’s theme, all answer one basic question: How to ____. Writers can fill in the blank with nearly anything conceivable (within reason, decency, and the law).
How can people start writing for eHow?
Just sign up. It’s as simple as that. At this time, eHow doesn’t have any screening process. If you can fill out the online application, you can write for the site.
How can I earn money on eHow?
eHow has al algorithm that they use to help them calculate each writer’s earnings. The algorithm is secret, but most eHow writers speculate that it is (as eHow has hinted) based on a combination of advertisements displayed on the articles’ pages, number of page views, and popularity of a particular article’s topic.
eHow earnings are passive income, earned residually. What this means is that an article you write today has the potential to be earning money for you this month, next month, next year, and beyond. Any freelance writer would find this astonishing. A new freelance writer can expect to earn $10 – $20 per piece for a tradtional freelance writing job. With eHow, one article could earn you tens, hundreds, even thousands of dollars over the life of the article (theoretically, as long as eHow exists, your article will be earning income).
The minimum payment threshold for eHow is $10. If you earn at least $10 in any given calendar month, you will receive payment (via your PayPal account) some time the following month. If you don’t meet the minimum for any month, that money rolls over to combine with your earnings for the following month.
How does eHow pay its writers?
A writer must register with eHow’s Writer’s Compensation Program (WCP) in order to be eligible to receive payment from eHow. Registration is quick and painless. The only requirements are that writers must be at least 18 years old, citizens of the United States, and each must have a PayPal account.
What are the average earnings for an eHow writer?
This is a tough question to answer. There are thousands of eHow writers. Some of these writers have written one or two articles, and many have stopped using eHow. Out of the active eHow writers, however, the “average” income (from what I’ve seen/heard) probably hovers around $100 per month. This increases exponentially when you factor in highly skilled writing and/or a large number of articles for any one writer. For instance, a person with 300 articles will almost always earn more than someone with 20 articles. Also, someone who writes with excellence will almost always earn more than someone who isn’t as skilled with the written word. Among those with both a high number of articles and a great level of writing skill, it’s not unheard of to make upwards of $1,000 to $2,000 of income with eHow.
