Happy eHow-niversary to me!
Today marks one year that I have been writing for eHow. It has been an exciting journey, to say the least. In the past year, I’ve seen my eHow earnings go up every single month and made a lot of new writer friends. I live in a tiny town, and none of my “real world” friends are writers, so it’s nice to have met so many people who I can relate to. (Nobody else but a fellow writer can understand how much work actually goes into “staying at home to write.”
There have been many changes at eHow since I first started:
- An “I Did This” button was added to each article, allowing other writers to provide a link to their own articles
- eHow realized people were using the “I Did This” button to self-promote, so they changed “I Did This” to now require writers to provide written and visual proof that they did in fact “do this.”
- After writing a long (LONG) email to a friend, detailing the techniques that I use to earn income at eHow and seeing her eHow income flourish, I wrote an eHow ebook so that others can benefit from the techniques that I use.
- A Newsweek article about passive income (which mentioned WriterGig), brought a flock of new eHow writers
- Earnings for most people seem to have increased, due to more eHow exposure
- I started writing for eHow’s sister company, which added another lovely gurgling stream of income (both passive and active) to my bank account.
All in all, it has been a wonderful learning journey. I love the simplicity and earning potential of eHow. It still amazes me that such short & simple articles that I wrote a year ago are still rolling in money for me, month after month after month….
Happy anniversary! eHow has been good to me as well. However, I’ve been spending much more time on my blogs and been doing fairly well with sponsored tweets.
I guess there’s a never-ending way to earn income online and we all have our preferences. That said, eHow will continue to be one of those streams, even if it’s not my top priority.
